DK Stashbuster Socks

Bear Paw Socks

The Bear Paw socks pattern by Andrea Mowry is the perfect DK stashbuster project. I don’t know about you, but I have a ton of leftover DK skeins from sweaters I’ve knit, and absolutely no clue what to do with them all. The yarn is great, but it’s not really enough to make anything substantial with (but also feels like too much to give away). Enter DK-weight socks!

Truthfully, I’ve also got a bunch of 2-skein DK sets from my previous subscription to KnitCrate. They’ve been sitting in my stash for years now with absolutely no purpose. This sock pattern is the perfect solution.

I was able to use up about 1.5 skeins (277 yds/120 g) of yarn on a pair of socks for my husband. The yarn I used is Audine Woolds Bloom in the color Delphinium, a beautiful chainette yarn made of 80% Alpaca, 10% Silk, 10% Camel. It’s incredibly soft and fluffy.

They’re the perfect slipper socks for those cold days! The ribbing makes the fit perfect, and the gauge on these means the knit flies off the needles. It also has a fleegle heel which, if you haven’t done this method yet, I highly recommend. It’s such a smart heel construction and so easy you don’t have to think about it.

I highly recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a stashbuster, want super cozy slipper socks, or want to knit socks in record time.
