The Frost & Flurry Shawl

Frost and Flurry Shawl

Surprise!

My new pattern, the Frost & Flurry Shawl, is officially LIVE! You can find the pattern on both Ravelry, and here on my website.

This pattern has been tech-edited, and the sample shown uses Blue Sky Fibers Baby Alpaca in Blue Cheese and Brushed Suri in Whipped Cream.

Frost & Flurry Shawl in Blue Sky FIbers yarn

I was recently accepted into the Blue Sky Fibers Makers program, which gave me the opportunity to try out their yarn and design a pattern around it. I was immediately drawn to their Baby Alpaca & Brushed Suri and got to swatching right away.

The Swatching Process

As soon as I saw the Brushed Suri with the Baby Alpaca I felt like they complemented each other so well and knew they needed to be together. I was wishing for snow when I started swatching, and as the two yarns knit up I felt like they were telling a story of the first snowfall of the season.

The Frost & Flurry shawl was inspired by those quiet winter mornings watching the snow fall, all while wrapped up warm and cozy indoors. With the springy softness of baby alpaca and fuzzy halo of brushed suri, this shawl has a lovely drape and is a dream to wear. Alpaca is the recommended fiber to achieve the drape shown (after blocking).

This shawl pattern has relaxing sections of stockinette as well as more complex techniques mixed throughout to hold your interest. These techniques include: i-cord edge, backwards loop increases, knit 1 below, double seed stitch, and mosaic knitting.
